Impact Stories
Heart of community housing
Housing Manager are at the heart of Bridge, as the key resident relationship holders.
They do more than manage properties, they support people to build safe, stable and connected lives.
From helping residents sustain their homes, to linking them with support services, resolving issues, and creating inclusive communities, housing managers bring our mission to life every day.
Bringing a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude, Housing Managers make sure Bridge homes are not just a roof, but a foundation for opportunity, wellbeing and stronger communities.
“I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the support I received from my housing manager over the past years. From day one, she was always there when I needed assistance, whether it was a simple question or a more pressing concern. My housing manager handled every situation with grace and professionalism, making me feel valued and at ease.” – Bridge resident

The Community Greening initiative at Elger Street is a resident-led rooftop garden project that exemplifies how social housing can foster wellbeing, sustainability, and connection.
Established through Bridge Housing’s Bright Ideas grant, the garden has evolved into a thriving space where residents grow food, share knowledge, and build community together. It offers tangible cost-of-living relief, promotes environmental stewardship through composting and water-wise practices, and provides a culturally safe space for residents from diverse backgrounds.
The rooftop garden has become a hotspot for workshops and events too. In the past year, it has hosted the Botanic Gardens of Sydney’s Community Greening team, Government Ministers, and countless community and Bridge Housing members.
Residents like Jonathan and Christine have led the charge, transforming the rooftop into a cornerstone of Elger Street’s identity, demonstrating how lived experience and local leadership can shape inclusive, sustainable homes.
“It’s more than just a garden. It’s where we come together, grow things, and support each other. It’s changed how I feel about living here.” – Christine
